The Ministry wants everybody to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text.
The standard we build to
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
What has been tested
Checked at six screen widths, from a small phone to a wide desktop:
- Colour contrast. All text meets or exceeds the AA contrast requirement against its background.
- Text size. No text is smaller than 12 pixels, and pages work at 200 percent zoom.
- Touch targets. Buttons and links are large enough to tap, or have enough space around them.
- Keyboard. Every menu, form and link works with a keyboard alone, and the item you are on is visibly outlined.
- Headings and structure. Each page has one main heading and a correct heading order.
- Sideways scrolling. No page scrolls sideways on a phone. Wide tables scroll on their own, inside the page.
- Animation. Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for it.
- Language. Pages declare their language.
Not yet accessible
- PDF documents. Forms and publications are PDFs and have not been audited. Ask us and we will provide the information another way.
- Photographs. Some images may not carry a text description.
- Third party services. The online application systems this site links to are run by other providers and are not covered by this statement.
