Who leads the Ministry, and how it is governed.
The Ministry is governed under the policy direction of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, in accordance with the foreign affairs and immigration legislation it works under. Its day to day operations are led by the Senior Leadership Team, which provides strategic direction, oversight and assurance in the delivery of the Ministry’s mandate.
The Senior Leadership Team is the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, together with the Directors of International Affairs and Trade; Pacific Regional Affairs; Treaties, Multilaterals and Oceans; and Capability and Service Delivery; and the Principal Immigration Officer. Together they are the core governance structure of the Ministry, and they advise the Secretary on matters of organisational significance across policy, operations and administration.
